Made In His Image

Two days ago we took our kids to our friend and teammate Matt's farm.

Our boys loved the farm -everything about it. The old dog, the cows, and of course the kittens. Our oldest nearly strangled a kitten to death from hugging it so tightly. His love was intense.

While we were walking in one of the corn fields one of my boys said, "we need to go back to feed the dog, he needs to eat."

Even though he is only 3 years old he has an incredible desire to care for an animal. Nowhere in the animal kingdom do you see young animals desire to help different kinds of animals. Maybe they will play together, but one won't nurture another with a sense of responsibility like my son did.

This desire to oversee and take care of animals is just like the way God sustains creation and takes care of each of us. Even at such a young age it's easy to see how humans are specially made, and different from all creation.

Where do you notice the uniqueness of humans over animals?

If you don't agree that humans aren't just "advanced animals" where do you see young animals desiring to care for other animals?

Do you think having animals help young kids grow and develop?
